Maddie McDaniel

High School: Severn School, Maryland

Graduation Year: 2016

Position: Center/Attack

College Choice: James Madison University

Club Affiliation: MD United 2016 East

Lacrosse Honors: Nike’s The Ride – Top 50, Class of 2016; Elite 120 Selection – 2014 & 2013; Maximum Exposure Camp – All-Star Team

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose JMU? “I chose James Madison because it had everything that I was looking for – the level of lacrosse, academics and size/location of the campus were the perfect fit for me. I also felt like I really connected with the coaches at JMU the best out of all the schools I visited. I feel like they inspire me to be the best person and lacrosse player I can be.”

Outlook for your High School team? “Coming off the season ending and heart breaking loss to McDonogh by 1 point, I have a great feeling about our team next year. We were very young this year so the experience we will have going into next year will propel us even farther in the tough IAAM A Conference.

“Additionally, with senior leaders like Caroline Steele (University of MD) and Hayley Norris (High Point University), combined with a lot of young talent like Brooke Robbins (University of MD), we will have the players in place to have another great season.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank my parents for all of their help in the recruiting process and over the years getting me to practices and tournaments. I’d also like to thank my MD United Coach Elizabeth Eshelman and club director, Bev Altig who have guided my lacrosse over the last 6 years; and my Severn School Coach, Renie Sotiropoulos and Severn Athletic Director Julian Domenech. They have all believed in me and supported me over the years and I can’t wait to show them what I can do at James Madison!”

Other schools considered: Naval Academy, Jacksonville University, University of Oregon
