Baltimore (6-0 overall) led, 13-11, midway through the final period before Adam Ceribelli (Hereford, 2014 MF), Jesse Uhlman (Westminster, 2014 MF), Chase Wittich (Gilman, 2014 A) and Jason Ashwood (Hereford, 2014 A) put the game away.

Shack Stanwick (2014, Boys’ Latin A) was named the tourney MVP after collecting two goals and five assists in the title game. Tal Bruno (2014, Boys’ Latin MF) scored three goals while Uhlman and Mikey Wynne (St. Paul’s, 2014 A) each had two goals and an assist. Ceribelli and Ryan Conrad (Loyola Blakefield, 2015) each scored twice and All-Tourney pick Brinton Valis (McDonogh, 2014) was a key at midfield.

“I am very excited,” said Wynne, who also made the all-tourney team. “It feels awesome. Baltimore has such a great lacrosse town and getting the win is big.

“With all the great players that have come through here, to finally get the (title) win is huge.”

Wynne said the team’s chemistry was strong.

“I knew a couple guys, but we all got along real well,” he said. “It was a good group and it was fun to play with them. To come out here and play against the country’s best was great.”

In a semifinal earlier on Sunday, Stanwick had a goal and four assists as Baltimore routed defending champion Philadelphia, 17-10. In that game, Baltimore closed with an 8-3 run after Philly had drawn within 9-7.

“These kids are very coachable and it was a great experience for me,” Baltimore coach Tom Marechek said. “People were telling us they didn’t like the team we picked. We went with our gut and it worked out.”

Marachek praised his defends – “They played great as a unit” – and goaltending and said Stanwick’s ability to lead the attack was a key.

“He’s a very smart and very poised,” Marachek said. “He slows the ball down he’s a quarterback back there and that’s what every team needs. He is a very unselfish player.”

Goalies Alex Gipe (Century, 2015) and closer A.J. Barretto (St. Paul’s, 2015) were steady all tournament for Baltimore.
