MOORESTOWN, N.J. – The Moorestown Quakers have started another win streak. The question will remain whether it would last four years like their recent 88-game win streak.
Their last win streak was snapped on Saturday against Ridgewood in North Jersey, 11-10. As they looked to rebound, their opponent today was a familiar face, Lenape, the team they defeated last year in the NJ Tournament of Champions semifinals.

The host Quakers used a 7-0 run late in the game to defeat the Indians, 16-11, this afternoon.
“It was my first loss in high school, and it was tough, honestly,” said Adriana Pendino, who had four goals and one assist for the Quakers. “So, it’s something that I didn’t want to honestly come.
“It’s life and sometimes you lose. I thought it definitely builds character. I think it’s going to help us in the long run.”
Moorestown’s last loss had come to Ridgewood in the 2011 Tournament of Champions final. They won the last three TOC titles with undefeated seasons.
Today’s win helped Moorestown – ranked No. 4 by Phillylacrosse.com and No. 17 in the STEPS Lacrosse North America Rankings – improve to 12-1. Lenape (10-1) is ranked No. 7 by Phillylacrosse.com.
Quinn Nicolai (three goals) gave the Quakers a 9-8 lead, but Carlee Braverman (four goals) and Kesey Donoghue put Lenape up, 10-9.
But Alex O’Donnell (two goals, one assist) scored to key the 7-0 run that featured three goals by Annika Nissen, (three goals) and two each by O’Donnell and Adrianna Pendino,
“I don’t think we would have needed a time out there, as we all pulled together,” Pendino said. “That’s what was important and once we got some of those goals in, we really feed off of each other. We pulled out the win.”
The game was tight in the first half. Natalie Peel (four goals) scored late in the half to to pull Lenape within, 5-4.
“We came out slow,” Moorestown head coach Deanna Knobloch said. “We really did. I don’t know why. Again, after Saturday’s loss, I thought we would be coming out and after it. But we didn’t.”
Knobloch credited Lenape.
“They have a great coaching staff and they have phenomenal athletes,” Knobloch said. “They are putting it together on the field. I’m happy about that, because we love the competition.”
“I’m really proud of all the girls,” said Pendino. “We all pulled together and everyone contributed.”
