Riverhead (N.Y.) rising sophomore Blake Carrara has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

What will you major in/study? Mechanical Engineering
Why did you choose the school? “Maryland has a great engineering program and also has a very strong lacrosse program. I really felt comfortable around Coach (John) Tillman and the other coaches during my visit. Maryland was the perfect fit for me.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “Last year we had a strong season and it was the first time Riverhead ever made it to the playoffs where we lost to Smithtown East in the first round. Every year Riverhead lacrosse is improving substantially and this year we’re looking to make the playoffs and past the first round.”
