From Press Release

Low and Away Lacrosse Club, a well established and nationally recognized club lacrosse program in Lancaster serving Central PA, has initiated steps to merger with Rock Lacrosse (MD).

The merger provides each program an opportunity to continue to leverage efforts to build organically, within the Central Pennsylvania region, the game of lacrosse and most importantly bring the level of play and opportunities that come with that, up to the levels represented by current lacrosse hot beds.land away rock

Low and Away is directed by Kyle Wimer former head coach of Manheim Township High School, MLL Charlotte Hounds Midfielder, and a two-time USILA Division I All American at UMBC.

“As our program began to look at opportunities to scale our ongoing initiatives to organically grow the game in Central, PA it become apparent that there was a need, relative to the amount of additional infrastructure required, that I explore opportunities to align efforts with another nationally recognized club program, a program with similar philosophical mindset and objectives,” said Wimer. “When we met the leadership from the Rock Lacrosse program it was immediately apparent Rock’s interests in region and Low and Away’s approach to club lacrosse, our participants and their development were directly aligned and hence decided an alignment made perfect sense.

“Our staff is immensely exited to continue our efforts for the players within our program and region to align with a program of the size and scale of Rock Lacrosse.”

The Low and Away and Rock Lacrosse merger will begin throughout the balance of the winter months leading into early spring, and teams will be assembled in conjunction with Rock’s current efforts in region to play in the summer 2016 club circuit. Tryouts and evaluations will be ongoing through February and early summer. Coach Wimer will continue as a Director as the merger evolves and work collaboratively with the current Rock staff to implement combined efforts in the Central PA region.

“We have developed significant respect for Coach Wimer and the Low and Away Lancaster program,” said Kevin Mayer, Executive Director of Rock Lacrosse. “What Kyle has been able to accomplish in the Central, Pennsylvania region has been truly extraordinary as his teams, his players, his college commitment record prove the program understands the important aspects of a results driven development curriculum.

“The addition of Kyle’s leadership, his coaching staff and the infrastructure he has built into his program will massively impact Rock’s current efforts to organically grow lacrosse in Central PA. We look forward to a successful alignment and most importantly utilizing our combined efforts to positively impact players in region.”
