NXTsports is proud to announce the HEADstrong Foundation as the official charitable partner of the 2016 Inter-Ac Challenge. All net proceeds from the Inter-Ac Challenge (PA) will be donated to HEADstrong to help in its quest to provide essential programs and services to improve lives affected by cancer.
The Inter-Ac Challenge is the Inter-Ac League’s postseason lacrosse tournament. It features the six Inter-Ac boys’ teams, led by defending national and Challenge champion Haverford School. The Fords went 26-0 last year and were ranked No. 1 in the nation by TopLaxRecruits (Epoch Lacrosse North America Rankings), Inside Lacrosse, Lacrosse Magazine, LaxPower.com, Recruiting Rundown and 3d Rising, among others.
Fellow Inter-Ac members Episcopal Academy, Germantown Academy, Malvern Prep, Penn Charter and Springside Chestnut Hill welcome national guests Academy of the New Church, Culver Academy (Ind.), Hill School, Hun School (N.J.), Lawrenceville School (N.J.) and Shipley School. Four of the Challenge’s teams have already made an appearance in at least one major national top 25 poll. The Challenge begins Monday, May 16 and culminates with the championship game at Villanova Stadium on Sunday, May 22.
“On behalf of the HEADstrong Foundation and those we proudly serve, we wish to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Inter-Ac schools and NXTsports for embracing our mission through this nomination as charitable benefactor of the Inter-Ac Challenge,” HEADstrong President and Nick Colleluori’s mother Cheryl Colleluori said. “We are deeply honored and humbled by having the opportunity to work collaboratively with NXTsports and the participating teams to raise funds and awareness for those devastated by the realities and overwhelming costs of cancer.
“It’s amazing to see the Inter-Ac schools, who represent the best high school lacrosse in the country, carrying our Nick’s torch and giving us the ability to have a stronger local impact, right now on behalf of families affected by disease.”
Admission to the opening round at higher seed schools is complimentary. Tickets to the quarterfinal round at The Proving Grounds is $5, the semifinals at Villanova University are $10 and the championship game at Villanova are $20 for adults and $10 for students. The championship game will also be televised by The Comcast Network. Donations can also be directly made at www.HEADstrong.org.
“The HEADstrong Foundation has become synonymous with the fight against cancer and we’re proud to be working with them to help support the cause,” NXT Vice President of Events Robin Baxter said. “We’re excited to have 12 of the best teams in the country battle for the most prestigious championship in the country, but also to have them be a huge part of the fight against cancer.”
