ALPHARETTA, GA – Over 200 elite girls’ players in the Class of 2016 and 2017 competed Saturday in the inaugural ATL Showcase here at North Park.

The event – run by T3 and Eagle Stix Atlanta – was the first major girls’ individual recruiting event held in the south as many players from Northeast hotbeds in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and throughout the South went through player combines and 7v7 games and full-field games.
“I was anticipating that it would be really fun and that the level of competition would be high,” said 2016 midfielder Julia Schmukler of Kent Place School (N.J.) and T3 Elite. “I played well, especially for it being the first time with this team.
“I think the team played really well together. I did well at transitions and defense, but I need to work on my shot placement. The level of competition was high, but I feel confident and prepared myself well.”

“I wanted to have fun and wanted to play well and to be confident in my abilities. I think I did well at dodging and shooting, but I need to improve on boxing out on draw controls.

“I was nervous before the tournament because of the (college) coaches, but I was excited to show them what I have because it is the last tournament of the year. I did well, but there are things I can always do better.
“I thought I did well in transitions, but I need to work on shot placement. The level of competition was equal. We used communication well with other players for only knowing them for a short amount of time.”

“I was nervous at first. Then once I was there, everyone was really nice and made me feel more confident. It was fun and I think I did well.
“My passing and cutting was good, but I need to drive more rather than pass. The competition was good and there was a wide variety of competition. I worked well with the team on and off the field.”

“I was nervous at first, but once I got here I was really excited to play. I played the best that I could!

“I did well at communication, but I need to look to step more. The competition was tough and I’m used to it because my travel team travels a lot, so I was prepared.
