“This was a fun game to coach and fun game for the girls to play in,” said Milton coach Tim Godby. “It was very fast paced and both teams battled hard. It was great for us to win a close game because we tied with Good Counsel (5-1) last year and lost in OT to Georgetown Visitation here at the Spring Fling last season by 1.”
St. Stephens & St. Agnes 11, Milton 4
Gussie Johns was strong in the goal and Sophie Davidson (4g, 1a), Ellie Major (4g, 1a) and by Bailey (3a) led the Saints (12-0).
For Milton (9-2), the leaders were Winsness (1 goal, 1 assist, 2 FTO’s), Velez (1 goal), Emma Harden (1 goal, 2 GB’s), Mirza (7 saves) and Smith (4 draws won, 1 draw control, 2 GB’s).
“It was obviously tough for us to get up physically and emotionally to compete in this game after such a big win an hour and a half earlier (over Good Counsel),” Godby said. “I wish we could have played them with fresh legs and at a neutral site.”
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes 11, Loyola Academy 5
Major had four goals and Carson three while Bailey dished five assists and Johns again was strong. For Loyola (6-1), Gieriet Bowen scored twice.
