Emily Stein scored in overtime to give Darien (CT) a 10-9 victory over host Garden City (NY) Wednesday in a girls’ lacrosse game involving two teams in the Top 10 of the Brine/TopLaxRecruits North America Rankings.
Darien (3-0) is No. 5 while Garden City (7-1) is No. 9
Stein also had sent the game into OT, 8-8.
Darien took a 9-8 lead in OT on a goal by Hollis Perticone (two goals, one assist), but Michaela Bruno (two goals) tied it.
Dillon Schoen had three goals to lead the Blue Wave, which rallied from an 8-6 deficit to force OT. Kyra Gardner had several key saves for Darien. Haley O’Hanlon led Garden City with three goals.
Strath Haven (PA) 10, Milton (GA) 9, OT
Radnor (PA) 16, Walton (GA) 8
Kristen Hansen scored with five seconds left in overtime to lift the Panthers (8-2) to the over the host and 11th-ranked Eagles as part of a Philly-Georgia doubleheader. In the nightcap, Radnor toppled another Georgia power, Walton, 16-8.
Bri Irons had three goals and an assist and Suzanna Penikis added three goals for Strath Haven. Kathryn Restrepo had two goals and two assists and Hansen had two goals and one assist. Mikaela Carzo earned the win in goal as the Panther defense shined.
Radnor (8-1), meanwhile, got seven goals and four groundballs from Sara Curley in its win over Walton (10-4-1), which had fallen to Strath Haven, 16-13, on Tuesday. Radnor plays today at Milton.
