Pennridge (PA) High School 2018 goalie Tristan Banks has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Bryn Athyn College.

Tristan Banks profile:

Tristan Banks

High School: Pennridge High School, PA

Graduation Year: 2018

Position: Goalie

College Choice: Bryn Athyn College

Club Teams: LB3 / Rhinos

Lacrosse Honors: All-Suburban One Conference 2017, Member of Bucks County Keystone Team 2016, 4 year varsity, varsity captain, defensive mvp

What do you plan to major in? Political Science

Why did you choose Bryn Athyn? “I was looking for a small school with a growing lacrosse program whose culture focuses on student athletes with an emphasis on being a student. Coach (Tucker) Durkin’s enthusiasm about the Bryn Athyn community and bringing in the right students who will thrive in the classroom as well as on the field is a philosophy my family has instilled for years. The campus is beautiful and allows me to stay close to my roots and grow as a student athlete who will learn more about lifelong service as I want to serve in the public sector.

Thoughts on the 2018 season? “We have a strong core returning and seek a return trip to the playoffs for a second consecutive year. We have grown as a group over my 4 years into a competitive squad and are seeking to continue that growth.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank my coaches JP Banks, Charlie Pianko, Chris Pianko and Cory Cooper for helping me to grow as a player over the last 3 years. I would like to thank my grandparents John and Darlene who have nurtured a love for the game in our family. I’d like to thank all my teammates for this great ride we’ve been on since our days at Deep Run, and Coach Dalbey for all he did to support me. Lastly, I’d like to thank my Mom, Dad and sisters Shay and Rori for traveling all over throughout the years.”

Other schools considered: Penn Stare Lehigh, Stevenson, Manhattan College, Widener

Germantown Friends School (PA) 2018 defense Riley Knowles has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Pitzer College (Pomona-Pitzer Athletics).

Riley Knowles profile:

Riley Knowles

High School: Germantown Friends School, PA

Graduation Year: 2018

Position: Defense

College Choice: Pitzer College (Pomona-Pitzer Athletics)

Club Team: STEPS Philly

What do you plan to major in? Political Science and Media Studies

Why did you choose Pitzer? “I really connected with Pitzer’s commitment to social and environmental justice. The academics are incredible and the classes are very small – you really get to build that student/professor relationship. In addition, the Claremont Colleges are such a unique consortium of schools in that they are all right next to each other, and they share athletic teams/facilities. To be able to attend a small college while still having access to the resources of what amounts to a mid-size university is an opportunity I could not pass up. In addition – the location!! I can’t wait to spend the next four years in Southern California and take advantage of all the west coast has to offer.”

Thoughts on the 2018 HS season? “We are headed to the Friends League finals! It has been an amazing season for GFS lacrosse and we are excited to build on our 11-3 (7-0 in league) momentum going into the finals, and PAISAA play. We focus a lot on communication and trusting each other this season, and it has been great to not only see every player improve, but to see how we have really gelled as a team and become one cohesive unit.”

Thank You: “Thank you of course to my parents for trusting my coach and I when we said playing D3 lacrosse was something I could go after having only played one full season of lacrosse. Their support means everything, and they are my biggest fans. Thank you to Katie Bergstrom for scouting me out sophomore year and pushing me each and every day to become better, and for helping me throughout the recruitment process – I truly would not be where I am without her. Thank you to STEPS for letting me jump onto their team for one season. I learned so much and it was a really great experience. Finally, thank you to my incredible teammates for challenging me during practices, lifting me up, and always being there for me.”

Other schools considered: Tulane University, Boston University, Haverford College (recruited)

Thank You: “I’d like to thank my parents for everything they’ve done for me over the years, and my high school coaches, Hank Resch and Bill Krewson, for taking the extra time to stay after practice and help me work on my weaknesses; finally, my club coach, Peter Burns and the entire Bandits coaching staff, for guiding me through this process.”
