Wilson High School (PA) senior attack-midfielder Mitchell Phillips has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Widener University.
Mitchell Phillips ledger:
High School: Wilson High School, Reading, Pennsylvania
Graduation Year: 2014
Position: Attack/Midfield
College Choice: Widener University
Club Affiliations: Blue Mountain & Low and Away
Major lacrosse honors: Honorable Mention Attack, 4 Year Varsity, Big 4 Showcase, Keystone State Games (Gold and Bronze)
What will you major in/study? Mechanical Engineering
Why did you choose Widener? “I choose this school because of its great academics, and more specifically its great Mechanical Engineering program. I also picked Widener for it’s lacrosse program, coached by Brendan Dawson. Coach Dawson is a great coach who is very committed to lacrosse and his players. He has everything I was looking for in a coach. Also another plus to the school was its location, just about a little over an hour from home, giving my parents the opportunity to come watch my home games, and also not to far from Philly.”
Outlook for your High School team? “We have high expectations, considering we have some big shoes to fill from last years season. We lost a few key seniors but there are plenty of underclassman that are filling in nicely. We hope to win our third straight County title this year, win the District, and then go on to win States.”
Thank You: “I would like to thank my parents for everything they have done for me, also for allowing me to play club lacrosse, taking me to all of my tournaments and college visits, and of course for their guidance that led me to my decision of Widener.
“I would like give a huge thanks to Coach Doug Bailey and the rest of the Blue Mountain coaches as they helped mold me into the player I am today and for their guidance that also helped me to complete my decision at Widener.
“I would like to thank my High School coaches, Coach Hughes and Coach Bialek for everything they have done as well.
“I also want to give another big thank you to Berks Elite Training and more specifically Jon Murphy and Zac Groff for busting my butt for the past year. They have definitely made an impact on my lacrosse play, making me a stronger, faster, and a more explosive athlete.”
